Figs of Arabia

Lawrence has 3000 figs. He needs to deliver at least 530 of them to the market 1000 miles away. He will transport them with his one camel which can carry up to 1000 figs at one time. The camel eats one fig for each and every mile traveled in any direction. You may assume that Lawrence can safely store (cache) figs along the road and pick them up later.

You need not worry about the return from the marketplace, since, once they sell at least 530 figs, both Lawrence and the camel will be rolling in dough. Make a plan for Lawrence.
