Logic Puzzles
“Uncle Bob”

Each month in 2020 I plan to feature a different type of logic puzzle. This month it’s …

Grid and Bear It: Skyscrapers

You are visiting a large metropolitan center with tall buildings lining the streets and avenues. How many buildings you can see depends on your vantage point. Each grid depicts an areal view of a city section. Each row and column will contain the numbers 1 through 4 (or one through five in problems 3 and 4) representing the relative heights of buildings. No row or column will contain a repeated number.

The numbers outside the grid tell how many buildings are visible from that particular vantage. In the example, the 4 at the bottom indicates that all four buildings are visible looking up that column. A 3 outside would indicate that one building is hidden by taller ones. But which building and where is it located? That’s for you to determine. Can you complete each grid?
